I am a sucker for makeover movies
From Pygmalion to My Fair Lady, from Grease to Pretty Woman, I love it when all it takes to solve a woman’s problem is a pretty dress and a new ‘do. Since I don’t have a TV, I assume I would equally fall for shows like the Biggest Loser, Celebrity Makeover, etc. If it were only that simple.
And these days, hipster makeover flicks focus on colon cleansing as a venue toward health and beauty. Two movies I’ve been waiting to see, both have the same theme: unhealthy person gets healthy on a raw food diet. Raw For 30 Days chronicles a group of people, all suffering from diabetes, as they grapple with being sent to raw food prison. May I Be Frank takes us on a journey with Frank, a 290 lb. Italian New Yorker with hep C and a 10-espressos-a-day habit, and his awakening at a raw food restaurant.
Clips are available at each website.
